Ethos
Corey La Rue is a disabled artist, painter, and activist based in East Hollywood/Los Angeles, California. Rooted in his Xicano (Chicano) heritage, he creates textured paintings on wood panels, paper, linen, and hand woven textiles that blend Mexican-American identity with the city’s urban and natural landscapes. Using oil, oil pastel, charcoal, indigo, cochineal, and local soil (often ground in a molcajete), his work explores psychological depths inspired by Carl Jung and meditative presence drawn from Za-zen Buddhism-balancing form and emptiness, nature’s flora/fauna with the inner psyche, and personal survival with cultural memory.

Listen Up
La Rue is a multidisciplinary artist and musician based in Hollywood, CA, blending raw musical expression with deeply tactile visual art. On SoundCloud, La Rue shares intimate demos that fuse folk, singer-songwriter soul, and bluesy undertones-highlighted by brooding originals like “The Devil’s Dice” and haunting reinterpretations of classics such as “House of the Rising Sun” and “My Girl.” These unpolished tracks offer a direct, evolving glimpse into an artist’s process, rooted in personal storytelling and emotional depth.
